Fitbit Surge: A Backcountry.com Review

  • Familiarity :I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

I have had many fitness tracking watches in the past, and some that cost WAY more than the Surge, but this watch beats the others by far in pretty much all areas. I love how many exercise options this watch gives you. I have hiked, free ran, and treadmill run with the watch and it is dead accurate. The Fitbit is actually a little bit addicting, in a good way! I love the app and all the other side features the watch tracks, like your sleep cycle! Very interesting information to have, and inspires me to get a better nights rest. The app has so many other features that inspire me to get moving more than any other competing brand has. I love getting into Challenges with friends to see how I compare in steps in a weekend or workweek.

Sizing. I was a bit worried when I saw that the only sizing option were small, large and extra large. I would have naturally guessed myself to be a medium, although I do feel like I have thin wrists. A small fits me perfectly!

The one con of this watch is that is it not totally waterPROOF. It is however water resistant, so running in the rain and getting really sweaty in it isn't a problem. I guess the other (very small) con would be that the color, tangerine does pick up a little of dirty discoloration on the underside of the band. But with all things you workout and use 100% of your day, I would expect it to get a little used looking. The color is true to its name. It's certainly tangerine, and very fun color to have!

I cant say enough great things about this watch and Fitbit in general. I wish I had had this watch much earlier! I'm looking forward to using it to train for my future races.
